Dogwood Psychiatry provides transparent insurance and billing information for patients across North Carolina. Whether using insurance or choosing self-pay services, we strive to ensure clear communication and convenient access to care. Please speak with the front desk or billing deparment if you have any questions.
We are currently in-network with the following commercial insurances BCBS, Aetna, Aetna State Health Plan, United Healthcare, Optum, and UMR.
Below you’ll find details about accepted insurance plans, appointment fees, and important billing policies.
Please note: We do not accept any Medicare or Medicaid insurance, even if affiliated with BCS, Aetna, or UHC. Please speak with our billing staff if you have one of these policies, before your appointment, to understand payment arrangements.

Please note: Carl Credle has applied for credentialing with insurance providers and is awaiting approval. Until credentialing is complete, Carl will be accepting patients on a self-pay basis.
Please review these important details about coverage and self-pay:
- We do NOT accept Medicaid or Medicare under any carrier
- By law, providers cannot accept cash/self-pay from Medicaid-covered patients

Please note that self-pay rates differ by provider; Dr. Brown and Mr. Credle each have their own pricing based on their clinical roles. Payment is due at the time of service.

Billing & Policies
No-Show & Late Cancellation Policy
We understand that you have a life with its own commitments and that unexpected changes can arise. With more than 24 hours notice, we are happy to try to accommodate your schedule to the best of our ability.
If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, please provide at least one business day (24 hours) notice. For example, appointments scheduled for a Monday must be cancelled on or before the preceding Friday.
Effective November 1, 2025, if you miss a session without canceling or cancel with less than 24 business hours’ notice, you will be charged the $200 for missed new patient appointments and $100 for missed follow-ups. This charge must be paid before a new appointment can be scheduled.
Please note: insurance companies do not provide reimbursement for late cancellations or no-shows.
Administrative & Document Fees
- Simple letters/forms: $25
- Document production (paper or electronic): $1 per page for the first 25 pages + $0.50 per page thereafter
- Postage/delivery fees apply to mailed documents
- Extended coordination with outside providers (15+ minutes) may incur an additional fee, which will always be discussed beforehand
Good Faith Estimates (Self-Pay Patients)
If you are uninsured or choose not to use insurance, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate explaining costs. You may request a GFE at any time.
Billing Information
- We bill insurance on your behalf and notify you of any patient responsibility.
- Once your insurance processes the claim and issues an Explanation of Benefits (EOB), any copay, coinsurance, or deductible amount will be charged to the credit/debit card on file.
- You may receive email and text notifications regarding billing statements
- We require all patients to maintain a credit or debit card on file for copays, deductibles, and any outstanding balances once claims are processed. Your full card number is not visible to our staff.
Out-of-Network Insurance
We can file out-of-network claims on your behalf; however:
- Payment is due at the time of service at the self-pay rate.
- Any reimbursement issued by your insurance will be sent directly to you.
- You are responsible for any amount your insurer applies to your deductible that exceeds the service fee.
Patients may also choose not to file insurance and pay fully out of pocket, understanding this will not count toward their deductible.
